Butter Markets in London

Finnish financial newspaper Kauppalehti provides its Finnish readers a description of markets and trade customs of butter in London. Mr Ernst Pennanen visited England specifically for the purpose of familiarizing himself with butter trade.

“The largest traders of butter, eggs and meat produced in America and Australia (not fresh) have concentrated along Tooley Street, which is slightly South-East of London Bridge. It seems to fit its purpose well, since along the river Thames has been built several grand storage and cooler rooms. During high tide, even ocean-going ships are able to reach them.”
