The Finnish Broadcasting Company Yle is Finland’s national broadcasting company, founded in 1926. The Yle Archives fosters, digitises and indexes archive materials of Yle. The extensive archives hold TV and film materials from 1906 and radio materials from 1935 up to this day.
The staff of the archives contribute to the making of Yle’s programmes by searching for archive materials, music and background information that can be used in Yle’s TV and radio programmes. The Yle Archives also offers information services and information retrieval training for Yle staff.
Yle publishes archive materials under the brand Elävä arkisto (“The Living Archive”).
